My story…

Ever since I was a child, I always wanted to make movies. Growing up in suburban Indiana, there really weren't a whole lot of exciting things to do around our neighborhood. However, one day I discovered my parents’ old Canon camcorder and decided to try shooting a video. From that day on I was hooked. Armed with the camcorder and a gifted version of Sony Vegas, nearly every summer day I would gather my friends up and ask them to make a "movie" with me. Shooting in our backyards and around the neighborhood, my friends and I would get together with our airsoft guns and make war and gangster stories.

Those summer days were what sparked my passion for film in general. When I graduated High School, I thought back to my childhood and remembered the passion and drive I had back then and decided to pursue it as a career.

At Purdue University, I am making that a reality. I have learned many different things about the filmmaking process and have even got to apply those new skills in various different projects. I have completed several short films and have worked with clients including The Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, the Purdue Hall of Music, SLSA, and Purdue Galleries.

Qualifications & Courses

Through my four years at Purdue, I have been able to take some amazing classes that helped me hone my skills as a filmmaker.

I have taken Cinematography, Editing I - III, Directing the Short Film, Producing Non-Fiction Video, Screenwriting, and several photography courses.

I was chosen to participate in a summer internship in which I was able to work on the next feature film from a local award-winning filmmaker. In addition to helping on the film itself, I participated in creating a behind the scenes video about the creation of the film.

Currently, I am manager of the Film and Video Equipment Room here at Purdue. I am responsible for facilitating the rental of film equipment by students in the Film major. I oversee scheduling, distribution, and return of equipment from industry-leading brands such as Blackmagic Design, Canon, Sony, Steadicam, Rode, and many others.

I am also president of Purdue Student Productions, the club at Purdue that allows students of any major to work on short films and other video projects. I was responsible for bringing new life into the club after it had been inactive for a semester.
